The absolute WORST domain registrar I've ever tried

I've tried a number of different registrars, and 1and1 was BY FAR the absolute WORST domain registrar I've ever tried. Within 48 hours of registering my first domain with them, I knew I would not use them again, I would not recommend them to a friend, and they've only gone down in my opinion over time. The website design is awful, help tutorials are awful, its hard to find anything, figure out what I need to do or where I need to go to achieve what I need to do. I have had literally hundreds of domains over a number of different domain registrars, and I've never seen such a Byzantine website, awful technical support, and even worse billing department.

I bought 1and1's business plan and was really impressed with the included features. Not only does it give you the option of adding free subdomains at no additional cost, but it also allows additional domains at a cost of $5.99 per year. Basically, there are only two ways to get in touch with them, telephone or e-mail which is somewhat of a drawback in my opinion. Why? Because live chat support has become quite common for a great majority of web hosts. I really miss the live interaction available via live chat which is why I have given them only 3 stars. The second reason for my average rating for 1and1 is the unavailability of FrontPage extensions. When I submitted a support ticket, I got a response from them saying that Microsoft no longer supports these. So in my opinion, 1and1 is just an average web hosting company.
